Trakt is the account that remembers everything you watch. Connect it to Cinopsys and you get both: Trakt's ecosystem and scrobbling behind the scenes, with Cinopsys as the fast app you actually use.
- Install Cinopsys → Settings → Sync & Backup → select Trakt → authorize.
- Your watch history and watchlist stay in step both ways; ratings, check-ins and your personal calendar work too.
- Works with a standard Trakt account: no VIP needed, though Trakt limits standard accounts to one third-party app at a time.
Since July 2026, a free Trakt account can connect one third-party app at a time, and Cinopsys counts as one. Trakt's own apps don't count. If you already have Kodi, Stremio or Infuse connected, disconnect it first or upgrade to VIP; if you'd rather not choose, Cinopsys also works with Simkl, MDBList and WeTrakr. Trakt says it isn't disconnecting existing apps, but reconnecting one counts as a new connection.

Install Cinopsys
Grab Cinopsys from the Google Play Store and open it. You can explore everything first without signing in to anything.

Open Sync & Backup in Settings
Go to Settings → Sync & Backup. Under "Where your library lives" you'll see a tile for Trakt, Simkl, MDBList and WeTrakr. A service you have not signed in to offers Sign in or Use on this phone.

Select Trakt
Choose Trakt: it "syncs to your Trakt account, across all your devices." Cinopsys sends you to Trakt's official website to sign in, so your password is only ever entered on Trakt, never in the app.

Sign in and authorize
Log in to Trakt and approve access for Cinopsys. You'll be returned to the app automatically once it's done.

Let the first sync run
Cinopsys pulls in your watch history and watchlist, plus ratings and lists. Give it a moment on a large library. From then on, your watch history and watchlist stay in step both ways.
What you get with Trakt
Once connected, your watch history and watchlist stay in step both ways, change them here or on Trakt and they stay consistent. Cinopsys also supports:

If Trakt's free-tier limits stop some list items syncing, Cinopsys keeps them on your phone. To also keep titles that Trakt later removes, turn off Sync deletions for Trakt in its options (on by default). More in our guide to Trakt's list limits.
If something does not look right
- Sync stopped after a while: if a service rejects your sign-in, Cinopsys shows a 'session expired' prompt and the service's tile says 'Sign-in expired'. Tap Reconnect. Your local library is kept, and changes made meanwhile are sent after you reconnect.
- Where do failed changes show? Open Force sync: it shows the last error and how many items are pending. Copies to another service that failed are under Needs attention in that service's options.

That's Trakt sync done. Prefer Simkl, or want to switch later? You can change where your library lives anytime, or run Cinopsys standalone and back up to Google Drive instead.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Trakt VIP to use Cinopsys?
No. Cinopsys works with a standard Trakt account. Trakt VIP only affects limits on Trakt's side, such as list sizes (5 lists on a free account against 100 on VIP; Trakt can change these, and Cinopsys reads your current limits from Trakt) and how many third-party apps you can connect (one on a free account).
Is connecting Trakt required?
No. Cinopsys works completely standalone with no account. Connect Trakt only if you want cloud sync across devices and apps.
Will connecting overwrite my Trakt data?
No. Signing in to the same account merges your phone's library with it. If your phone holds a library from a different account, Cinopsys pauses and asks whether to upload it to this account, keep it on the phone only, or remove it. Nothing is uploaded until you choose.
Can I use more than one service?
You can be signed in to all four. One is active at a time: it decides your library view, Discover rows, tabs and which features show. Each service keeps its own library on your phone, and signed-in services keep syncing in the background about hourly. To copy new activity to another service as well, turn on Also save my activity to... in that service's options. A Google Drive or folder backup can run on top of any of this.
