Simkl is the account that remembers what you watch, and it's especially good for anime. Connecting it to Cinopsys keeps Simkl as your backend while giving you a faster, cleaner Android app to use it through.
- Install Cinopsys → Settings → Sync & Backup → select Simkl → authorize.
- Your watch history and watchlist stay in step both ways, not a one-time copy. Ratings and check-ins work too (Simkl ratings apply to movies and shows, not individual seasons or episodes), and there is an anime tab.
- Works with a standard Simkl account for history, watchlist, ratings and the anime tab. Simkl custom lists show up read-only and only on a PRO or VIP account; rewatch (multiple plays) is also PRO or VIP.

Install Cinopsys
Grab Cinopsys from the Google Play Store and open it. Everything works before you sign in to anything, so there's no rush.

Open Sync & Backup in Settings
Go to Settings → Sync & Backup. Under "Where your library lives" you'll see a tile for Trakt, Simkl, MDBList and WeTrakr. A service you have not signed in to offers Sign in or Use on this phone.

Select Simkl
Choose Simkl: it "syncs to your Simkl account, across all your devices." Cinopsys sends you to Simkl's official website to sign in, so your password is only ever entered on Simkl, never in the app.

Sign in and authorize
Log in to Simkl and approve access for Cinopsys. You'll be returned to the app automatically.

Let the first sync run
Cinopsys pulls in your Simkl movies, TV and anime, with their history and watchlist. After the first pass, your watch history and watchlist stay in step both ways.

If something does not look right
- Sync stopped after a while: if a service rejects your sign-in, Cinopsys shows a 'session expired' prompt and the service's tile says 'Sign-in expired'. Tap Reconnect. Your local library is kept, and changes made meanwhile are sent after you reconnect.
- Where do failed changes show? Open Force sync: it shows the last error and how many items are pending. Copies to another service that failed are under Needs attention in that service's options.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need Simkl VIP or PRO to use Cinopsys?
You do not need it for watch history, watchlist, ratings or anime. Two things need PRO or VIP: seeing your Simkl custom lists in Cinopsys (they are read-only there) and bringing in repeat plays of a title. Simkl's free tier is also limited to 500 requests a day, shared by every app on your account.
Does the Simkl sync work both ways?
Yes, for your watch history and watchlist. Mark something watched in Cinopsys and it lands on Simkl; update Simkl and it flows back. It is an ongoing sync rather than a one-time copy.
Will connecting overwrite my Simkl data?
No. Signing in to the same account merges your phone's library with it. If your phone holds a library from a different account, Cinopsys pauses and asks whether to upload it to this account, keep it on the phone only, or remove it. Nothing is uploaded until you choose.
Is Cinopsys good for tracking anime with Simkl?
