MDBList is where a lot of people already keep their lists, and it feeds Plex, Stremio, Radarr and Sonarr. Connecting it to Cinopsys keeps MDBList as your backend and gives you a fast, ad-free Android app to use it through, with sync running in both directions.
- Install Cinopsys → Settings → Sync & Backup → select MDBList → authorize.
- Sync is two-way, not a one-time import. Your watchlist, custom lists and ratings stay matched.
- Works with a free MDBList account. Cinopsys is free with no ads and adds no limits of its own.
Connect MDBList in 5 steps
-
Install Cinopsys
Get Cinopsys free from Google Play and open it. Everything works before you connect anything, so you can look around first.
-
Open Sync & Backup in Settings
Go to Settings → Sync & Backup. Under “Where your library lives,” you'll see four choices: This device only, Trakt, Simkl and MDBList.
-
Select MDBList
Choose MDBList. Cinopsys opens MDBList's own site to sign in, so your password is only ever typed on MDBList, never into the app.
-
Sign in and authorize
Log in to MDBList and approve access for Cinopsys. You are returned to the app automatically.
-
Let the first sync run
Cinopsys pulls in your MDBList watchlist, custom lists and ratings. After that first pass, changes flow both ways. Discover and the ratings on a title's detail page start drawing on MDBList too.
Whatever your MDBList account allows is what you get. Free and Supporter accounts have different limits on MDBList's side, and Cinopsys adds none of its own on top.
One home at a time
Cinopsys keeps your library in one place, not several at once. You pick MDBList, Trakt, Simkl or this device, and that choice is where your watch history, lists and the picks in Discover come from. You can change it later, and you can keep a Google Drive backup running alongside whichever you choose.
You're set
That's MDBList sync done. Prefer a different backend? You can change where your library lives at any time, or run Cinopsys on the device alone and back up to Google Drive instead.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an MDBList Supporter plan?
No. Cinopsys works with a free MDBList account. Your MDBList account type decides your limits on MDBList's side, and Cinopsys does not add any of its own.
Is the MDBList sync two-way?
Yes. Add something in Cinopsys and it reaches MDBList; change it on MDBList and it comes back. It is sync, not a one-time import.
Can I use MDBList and Trakt at the same time?
Not at once. Your library lives in one place, so you pick one of MDBList, Trakt, Simkl or the device itself. You can switch later, and a Google Drive backup can run alongside whichever you pick.
Will connecting overwrite what is already on MDBList?
No. Your existing MDBList library is imported and kept as your backend, and changes are merged in both directions rather than replaced.
