When TV Time closes, your watch history isn't archived or handed off — it's deleted. Before that happens, TV Time gives you a self-service export so you can download your own data and keep it. Here's exactly how, and what to do with the file once you have it.
- Go to gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service, sign in, and request your export.
- Download the file and save it in two places before July 15, 2026.
- Then set up a tracker you own so your history stays portable — here are the best options.
Why you need to do this now
There's no grace period. On July 15, 2026 the app leaves the stores, tvtime.com goes offline, and all personal account data is permanently deleted. The export is the only way to keep a copy of the history you've built — years of it, for a lot of people. It costs you ten minutes today versus losing everything in a few days. If you're still deciding whether to bother, read what the shutdown means first — but export either way.
The r/TV_TIME community's migration guide puts one warning above all others: request your export now, not on the last day. The export servers are under heavy load close to the deadline and can take a while, so the earlier you start, the safer you are.
Export your data in 5 steps
-
Open the TV Time export tool
In any browser, go to gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service. This is TV Time's official self-service data export page.
-
Sign in to your TV Time account
Log in with the email and password you use for TV Time. Forgotten it? Use Forgot password on the login page to reset it, then come back and sign in.
-
Request your export
Start the export. Depending on how much you've tracked over the years, it can take several minutes to prepare your download — leave the page open while it works.
-
Download and save it — twice
Download the file and keep it somewhere it won't get lost: save it to your computer and a cloud folder like Google Drive. Two copies means one accidental delete doesn't undo the whole effort.
-
Import it, then track in Cinopsys
With your data safe, put it somewhere open: upload the export to Simkl or Trakt — both have a built-in TV Time importer, no paid plan needed. Then install Cinopsys (free, ad-free) and connect that account — your history syncs in. Full walkthrough: switch from TV Time to Cinopsys.
Based on reporting around the shutdown, the export includes your account data — watch history, episode check-ins and ratings. What it doesn't include is community content: your comments, reactions, GIFs, polls and votes have no export path and will be lost. So don't count on saving the social side — save the tracking data.
You don't have to re-enter anything by hand. Both Trakt and Simkl have a built-in TV Time importer that reads this export — no paid plan required. Upload it at simkl.com/apps/import/tvtime, or in Trakt under Settings → Data → Import Data → TV Time. Then connect that account in Cinopsys and your history syncs in — Cinopsys doesn't read the file itself, but it doesn't need to. Step-by-step: switch from TV Time to Cinopsys.
Save it today
Ten minutes now protects years of history. Export your data, store two copies, then move to a free, ad-free tracker that keeps your library portable — so no company's business decision can ever delete your watch history again.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I export my TV Time data?
At TV Time's official self-service export page: gdpr.tvtime.com/gdpr/self-service. Sign in with your TV Time account and request the export. It can take a few minutes to prepare.
What's the deadline to export TV Time data?
Before July 15, 2026. That's when TV Time shuts down and all personal account data is permanently deleted, so the export has to be done beforehand.
What's included in the TV Time export?
According to reporting on the shutdown, the export covers your account data such as watch history, episode check-ins and ratings. Community content — comments, reactions, GIFs, polls and votes — can't be exported and will be lost.
Can I import my TV Time export into another app automatically?
Yes. Trakt and Simkl both have a built-in TV Time importer that reads this export — no paid plan required. Upload it there, then connect that account in Cinopsys and your watched history, progress and ratings sync in. Cinopsys doesn't read the export file directly, but it doesn't need to.
I forgot my TV Time password — can I still export?
Yes. Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page at gdpr.tvtime.com to reset it, then sign in and request your export. Do it before July 15, 2026.
